Traditional dhol

dholfest will be a large outdoor staged event set to break the existing world record for the Greatest Number of simultaneous dhol players.

The current record is 314. This year we are anticipating over 500 dhol players to take part in breaking the record.

The event will take place on Saturday 13th September 2008 in Victoria Square, Birmingham, as part of Birmingham City Council's ArtsFest. Organised by mediaxy, the occasion will mark the celebrations of the 300th Anniversary of the Guru Granth Sahib Ji – as the word Guru.

Every dhol player who participates in this event will be given a T-shirt, trophy and certificate. In addition, their name will be forwarded to Guinness World Records!

We have registered this event with Guinness World Records and will be working towards their guidelines and setting a new WORLD RECORD!

Media XY would like to dedicate this event as a tribute to Ishmeet Singh who was the winner of Star Voice of India, Ishmeet sadly passed away due to drowning in a pool of a resort in Maldives on Tuesday 29 July 2008 aged only 19.

May God give peace and solace to your eternal soul and strength to your loved ones.
